Hello,
I’m new to onefinity and I am trying to find out if there are people that do gcode programs for sign designs we have done and what they charge.
If you have the files as vector graphics, SVG, purchase one of several products like Vectrics VCarve. Creating signs is not too difficult once you have the designs.
Ok. Thanks. We are using carveco. It’s not very user friendly. I don’t really have time to learn a new program right now since we need to get this sign carved asap. Do you know of anyone that would make our design a gcode file?
Having somebody do your CAD/CAM modeling is not going to come cheap. Which is why so many end up buying files off of Etsy… which is why there is a race to the bottom on the price of items. 50 people bought the same “last supper” 3D art works spent 40 hrs carving it and no sell it for $25.
The issue with having somebody else do the modeling is that the process is a bit of trial and error. There are issues with:
- available bits
- speeds and feeds
- work holding
- finish quality
all of these things can cause heartburn.
I have heard folks billing “on machine time” at ~60 hr. A decent CAD/CAM guy is $40-$100 depending on the complexity of the task. Personally, I use FreeCad and VCarve Pro to generate toolpaths. I stay away from AutoCad (Fusion) I don’t like their licensing schemes and how they change it.
Hello Joe,
I would be willing to take a look at it for you if you still need it.
Hi steve
Attached is the file and a picture of one of the original existing signs. It needs to have a simulated wood grain background.
