Glitch when carving 3D!

Had an odd thing happen last night. I do topographic 3D maps and for some reason last night about 4 hours into a carve something happened that made my CNC decide to carve a completely unrelated path. It plunged super deep, did an odd cutting pattern and seemed to be carving something else. Has anyone had a glitch like this happen? No static electricity buildup or anything that would have shocked the CNC, as I had no dust collection going. And cut preview in Vectric was perfectly normal.

Hey Ben,

yes, this is reported from time to time in this forum. Use the search function, e.g. search for Z plunge. Often it’s the Z cable or its connector, but it can be also the bit which becomes loose due to dust inside the collet.
