Help with fair asking price for used machine

I am hoping someone (preferably who is NOT interested in buying one… LOL) can give me some assistance in determining a fair price to ask for my CNC machine. There is no ‘blue book’ for used CNC machines that I’m aware of…

I have a Onefinity Elite Foreman, with just about every upgrade possible: PWN 2.2kw water cooled spindle with ATC system, chiller, all kinds of dust collection attachments, MASSO pendant, tool setter, probing block, ugly dog large drag chains, Jtech 24w laser, Jtech 7w laser, PWN inlets panel and remote emergency stop, all mounted on a Kreg table. Probably two or three dozen bits, most of them never used. The machine probably has less than 20 hours on it. I’m not sure if software licenses are transferable… but I have Vcarve Pro, Aspire, and Lightburn. I have not yet gone through my records to tally an exact number, but I know I have more than 20K into it. I would like to sell it all together. Question is can I get enough to make it worth selling… or am I better off just keeping it.

Mike

wow that is a lot of machine. I have my elite on order so no I am not interested in buying yours. In my opinion you will never get what you would like for it. It is a case of CNC users being a finnicky lot. Some will love certain parts of what you are selling but hate others, or prefer one software over another or not be interested in a spindle or some other goodies etc. I would keep it unless you really need the money in that case the old words of wisdom apply " it is a fool that cannot let go of a treasure at need". Good luck and be careful when I was selling my x50 I had to wade through several scammers before I got a legitimate buyer.

I think your going to run into a problem. You have a lot of money invested. People wanting to spend that level of money will have options in the next level CNC range. I’ve seen $25k (ish) Canmaster Stingers go for as low as $8000. While I love my 1F it’s not in the same league as a commercial machine. That doesn’t mean the right buyer will not come along.

I believe you can sell the Vetric software once. I know when my neighbor bought his Flexicam 5x10 machine it came with several different softwares (including pro). I think there was a small fee Vetric charges. Only you can decide if it’s worth keeping. If I was trying to figure out a fair price I would try to find classifieds, maybe on other forums, and see what used machines are selling percentage wise. Normally I say 50% for used woodworking equipment and adjust up or down based on condition. With shipping delays on new 1F machines it could benefit you if someone wants to pay a bit more for a used one and not wait for a new one.

I would be interested in buying the aspire software though. anyone want to sell theirs?

where are you located?

I agree. My thought process going into it was that if I bought a high-end hobby level machine, and then added all the upgrades, it would be less expensive overall than buying a higher, more commercial machine. I realize now that I was mistaken. For what I have into this, I probably could have bought like a 4x8 Avid or something along those lines. Live and learn!

I am located in Oswego, New York.

since even a benchtop Avid starts around 7 thousand and goes up to 21 thousand plus, I am wondering what in the world you got from onefinity that cost you that much. I bought an elite journeyman with a 4th axis revolution, a rapid change ATC, 220 volt spindle, tool setter , and stiffy, and it barley came to 7grand. Avid would not get you those extras for anywhere near that price.

The problem is going to be that a potential buyer is going to go to the Onefinity website and select all the ‘meat & potatoes’ that you have listed (not including all the other misc. bits & pieces you have listed) and they’re going to see a total of just under $8k for the primary machine & major accessories pricing.

So my opinion would be no, that you probably can’t get enough to make it worth selling. But that is largely dependent on your own personal & financial situation, and how much of a loss is bearable.

I’m inserted for 5000
I’m concerned about the masso monthly

I see now I did not get any lasers.

Yes, and that is precisely one of the issues here. A new user is not likely to want 2 lasers (maybe not even one to start with). So that makes a package deal this big a difficult sale. Just a bare machine, or one with a few necessary accessories would be a much easier sale.

Hi There - I have an Elite Foreman and therefore not in the market.

It’s tough to get your money back out… That said, It’s possible. I’d start at 75% of your list price if you really want to move the package ( you still have to pack and ship…) you may need to drop it even more.

To maximize your value, I’d consider splitting out the laser components and selling those separately.

Same with your ATC - as Onefinity is still having problems getting those out.

In my mind the CarveCo license is of limited value as there are so many unused / packaged licenses around. VCarve, is a different story - not sure though about transferring the license…
