When I home my journeyman CNC and it is traveling to the front it completes to the end and then it kicks back about 1/4” and stays there. Any idea why it kicks back. I have a video back I can’t up upload it.
Typically each axis backs up from the hard limit when homing.

It only kicks back on the left side and the right side is still snug.
Then it could be out of adjustment, particularly a parallelogram. If one foot is farther front than the other or the gantry is not square you will get that.
