I ran into a Problem setting the Z axis

I ran into a Problem setting the Z axis ??? A few days ago in replaced the motor that did not have the Brake on it. I have used it several times since that day, no issues at all. I went out in the garage a few minutes ago turned everything on and homed it. Then I ran it like I do everytime the warm up for the Spindle, a few minutes. I took the thumb drive and put on it what I was going to carve, the piece of wood was already attached to the spoilboard. I run the spindle over the top of the piece of wood to set like I usually do. Set the aluminum block under the bit, attached the magnet to the nut on the spindle. I went to bump it down closer to the block . I just came down 1 1/2" and stopped way short, would not come down any farther. I turned it off, re-homed it , no issue. but it still won’t come down any farther than 1 1/2" and stop. I unplugged the wires, plugged then back up, re-homed it again.. .same thing . It comes down 1 1/2" and stops . Any thoughts or solutions ??? It is always clean but I am fixing to unscrew the motor from the screw drive to see if anythting is stopping it I just can not see ??

I took the spindle out of the holder, and losened the set screw and the other screw attached to the motor on the very bottom. It was spotless clean and well oiled 3 n one oil. It seemes to be dragging up and down just doing it by hand and trying to bind. I hit it with air pressure all over, there was nothing I could see on it at all. I re-attached but still not much better, certainly not useable right now. Maybe the bearing on the screw shaft ?? It is certainly not smooth.

I think this is the answer, How To Replace a Ballnut On a Onefinity CNC, The one on the Z axis .

If its only coming down an 1.5 then something physical is stopping it. Maybe a screw came loose and it hitting something.

I took the two top screws completely out. it still stopped at the same place. With the brake motor not connected to to mount I spun it, jogging it up and down. The new motor barely was spinning. I took the original motor and wired it, never turned the machine, I jogged it the same way. It worked fine. I put it all back together, set the Z axis and it is running again like it has since I got it. About half way through the first carve the Thumb drive lost connection . Per Peter at masso he told me to open up the Masso and check . So I barely lossened the screws on the post to the Thumb drive, barely snugged them back down , I moved the wires up right above where they were plugged in, and re connected both. I intentioanlly put the same Thumb drive I had been using back in it, and it read it fine. I run the warm up on the Spindle, no issues ! Right now it is running the same program it was losing connection on and almost finished, but right now it is running “AIR” with the Z axis set higher than touching the wood, seems to be doing great now. Maybe just needed a “RE-CONNECTION” after two years, something simple ! Have a Wonderful Christmas ! ( Even in the Midst of all this Crazy world we live in )
