In need of a new controller

I believe my original Buildbotics controller gave up the ghost
Hoping one of our members had one for sale maybe you upgraded please let me know

What’s it not doing? I had to replace the Pi controller on mine because the HDMI port stopped working. I think I caused it while doing some work to my 1F I was rubbing against the power switch and turning the controller on and off repeatedly. If it’s not the Pi controller I wouldn’t mind it if I could have/buy your old one. I would like to do an in depth troubleshooting of the controller to try and repair it.

Would you mind trying to fix it for me for a modest fee?

Plus if I may inquire what pi did you use and how is it working now? Ty ahead of time

And if course we know that Onefinity can’t guarantee them this is at our own risk

You might check with @mauroluciobh who posted one back in October of last year for sale. They didn’t have any responses on the original listing, so I don’t know that it sold.

I ended up getting a used Raspberry Pi 3B (I was given a 3B+ but that’s not compatible). Changing out the raspberry is actually a pretty easy job. I would work with 1F to see what help they can offer and if the controller is bad then I start with the Pi. New ones are starting to get a bit hard to find but there’s plenty of used ones and they aren’t expensive.

If that’s not the problem I certainly could try to repair it for you. I didn’t offer because I don’t know how successful I would be. I’ve had a pretty good track record with repairing appliances so I think I could troubleshoot the BB controller and repair it.

my question is

In theory

After installing a new rasberry pi 3b I’ll have to reflash the new one or just insert the SD card

If you haven’t yet I would have 1F go through their troubleshooting steps. I think one of those steps would be to reflash the memory card. I would do a fresh install using a PC and a micro SD card reader/writer. If you live near a Best Buy you can buy a new card for about $10 so you’ll have a spare. You can buy a card with the latest firmware already installed from 1F but you’ll have to wait for delivery.

Here’s the instructions on how to do it.

Here’s 1F’s link to the correct Raspberry Pi. It looks like your link is also the right one but this one is a bit cheaper.

I don’t know what the Dr in front of your name is for, but can I call you Doc,
I reflashed memory card as you suggested, it updated it also to newest firmware,
I had a couple of minutes getting familiar with it, but it booted and I am in the middle of a 4 hour carve, so far so good, ty Doc
I’ll keep you posted

Glad that’s all that was needed. Kind of got there backwards but it’s always good when the solution is free.

I don’t say it enough, but I really appreciate you and a lot of the members that take the time to help others like myself navigate thru so it is possible for us to enjoy cnc ing
