OK I assume this joystick has a power on and off button? Is this an automatic function?

Yes it has a power button … its the big rounded bubble logo in the middle top. This is not automatic, you have to press it to turn it on and it shuts off automatically after ~5 min of no use.

It’s not your old brain. There is nothing in the manual (to use the term loosely) that states it is auto-shutoff.
