Kreg Bench Torsion Box a Must

This is my second attempt at creating a flat worksurface for my CNN. The first time I just used a single piece of three-quarter inch MDF. Even with supports overtime, it started to sag in the middle.

I decided to add a torsion box and it is dead flat. My CNC even sounds a lot better when it’s running I believe when the gantry was traveling back-and-forth on the Y Axis, It was causing the rails to shift.

I also added a 15 inch touchscreen and it it’s working out great. I picked it up for $70 on Amazon warehouse.

Nicely done and that large screen looks like a joy to work with. You were never going to maintain a level surface with a single layer of 3/4" MDF. It’s almost guaranteed to sag. Nice save.

Boss, where did you get the table from? Is it just the steel legs and such? All i could find is everything including the top.
Thanks

Well done! That large screen must be great to work with. A single layer of 3/4" MDF would have definitely sagged, so good save!

Look sweet! Do you have the plans for the box?

I am adding a threaded insert waste-board. I had a t track setup but I did not like it that much. My prior CNC was an x-carve and I really like the threaded inserts.

KREG table I have one too ! Enjoy, easy to assemble and I suggest putting plywood on the sides and 2x4s running across the top and bottom for stability.I would think the MDF would not warp screwed down to 4 or 5 2x4s.
