Laser home zero with cnc bit?

Hello fellow OneFinity CNC users!

I’m considering purchasing a JTech laser, but I have a few questions before I do. I primarily cut 10mm black acrylic. I’d like to first engrave pockets with a CNC bit and then cut the outline with the laser. Which JTech laser model would be powerful enough to cut through 10mm black acrylic? Additionally, has anyone here tried combining engraving and cutting with a JTech laser before?

How do you plan on exhausting fumes when using the laser on acrylic? It’s nasty business on my enclosed laser, and I’d like to get a laser for my CNC, but this worries me.

Fumes are a BIG issue with any laser add-on for the CNC. Unless you are only engraving anodized aluminum or something, you are risking serious health issues without serious ventilation/fume evacuation.
I ended up going with a separate High power diode laser instead of the add-on. Works great for my needs, and I didn’t need to enclose the entire Foreman machine.
I believe any of the Jtech lasers will cut black acrylic; so, it’s really a matter of how fast you will need it to be cut.

i had a Trotec Speedy 400 120 w co2 and ran a vent fan for it and all was great in fact Trotec started telling new user’s about it. I now ( just got ) my Elite infinity with the 24w from J tech and will run the same type
1 ) MARS HYDRO 6 Inch Inline Duct Fan 402CFM with Temperature Humidity Controller, Exhaust Fan for Grow Tents, Hydroponics amazon $160
2) there is a 4" boot that connects to the front of laser to hold your duct but i can’t remember who made it but will keep looking

in short don’t worry you will be fine just have a 4" duct within 4 to 6 inches by the laser and it will pull the fumes ( 12 years of laser cutting )

Which Laser did you go with?

Hi Dan,

I am not sure if you were asking me, or another responder; so, if you were asking me, I went with a Neje Max4 E80 laser, and it works great!

Good luck!
