Laser on 3d contour

I’m looking to CNC a 3D relief map of an area and then laser engrave roads onto the 3D carved map. I see this is possible from photos on the Jtech website but cannot find anything on how to set this up. I’ve already created a map and the road files using QGIS. I’ve also carved the map using my Foreman. I have a 7W Jtech and the laser module for Vectric. How do I set the height of laser for this? Do I just set it for the highest point of the 3D carve? The difference in Z height of the carved map is maybe 3/4".

I think you have to project the toolpath to the 3d surface. You have to make sure you have enough clearance so the laser module does not contact the wood. You might have to contact J-Tech to find out how to lengthen you focus to give more clearance.
