Lazy Susan's from Scraps

I had a bunch of scraps lying around that I didn’t want to burn so I ended up gluing them together and making some lazy susan’s. The diameters are just under 15". After gluing them up they were not perfectly flat and they were too large for my planer so I used the CNC to surface both sides. I then cut a perfectly fitting recess in the back to pilot the bearing.

Not a real complicated project but a great way to make something useful from a bunch of scraps.

This might be my favorite one.

Here’s four of the five. The last one doesn’t have any finish on it yet.

Very nice use of scrap. I want to make serving tray and bowls from my scrap. Can I ask what you used for the rotating fixture?

There isn’t a rotating fixture. My CNC cuts out the circle and the pilot for the bearing. Before I had a CNC I made a fixture with an adjustable pivot point. I could use it with my disc sander, my router table, or my shaper. With the router table or shaper I would use an end mill to route out the recess for the bearing and cut out the perimeter. By making fine adjustments I could dial in the diameter for both the bearing and the outside diameter.
