Longest Bit Size - X50 Journeyman

I have 2" stock which I have been working on. I am trying to drill 4 holes which will go through the material and into wasteboard. I have a 4" bit for Makita router. . After raising it all the way I still have plenty of clearance between the bit and material. After probing Z, router goes all the way up and then try to go some more. I didn’t realize that the first time so when I started bit hit the material far too early, and thankfully that was a piece of wood I am going to cut. I tried again to probe Z but same issue.

Anyone has any tips / tricks or do I need a shorter bit? 2½ inch isn’t long enough so a 3"?

Thanks!

Sounds like it might be your safe Z height set in your tool path is to high

Thanks, I will check.

I suspect this is not the case as after probing Z router is being raised too high and machine last the Z height. Tool path hasn’t even started yet. When I start the drilling process it thinks it higher than it was able to go.

I don’t see a setting for how high the z travels when probed but you can set your XYZ manually and the program should run.

Thank you! that is a great idea!
