Machine not stopping for tool changes

Hi everyone,

I want to start by saying I’m brand new to the CNC world, so please forgive my ignorance.

I just bought a new Foreman Elite (Redline Bundle), and I’m having an issue where the machine doesn’t stop to prompt me for a tool change when running a program with multiple tools.

I’ve created a single program using Fusion and the Redline post processor, and no matter which settings I choose, I can’t seem to get the machine to pause for tool changes. It just moves to the next tool path and starts cutting as if the tool was swapped out.

I’ve made sure all my tools are numbered uniquely in Fusion, and I can see the “TX M6” line in the g-code where the tool change should happen, but it seems to have no effect.

What am I missing?

Thanks a lot!

Did you set up tool change in the tools menu of the controller?

I did not. Sorry, like I said, I’m brand new to this stuff. I thought that menu was for the ATC (which I don’t have). Anyway, is there any documentation on setting up tools in the controller?

Thanks a lot!

I’m using a BB controller, but I gave up on using tool changes in one program. I make separate programs for each tool and put them in one folder, then load that whole folder into the controller. The machine has to stop and you need to rezero the Z axis for each tool anyway, so loading a new program doesn’t add that much time.
