Makita router while waiting on spindal

Can I use the Makita router while I wait on my spinal to arrive or are the mounts different between the two?

well one thing we would have to know before advising you is what size mount you have 65mm or 80 mm ? if the 65mm then yup you can just use the mount you have right away. but if it is the 80mm then you will need a shim to hold that makita. look up shims here on the forum or go to etsy and get one there. happy carving.

Thank you for the response. I have the 80 mm so looks like I will be looking into shims for it so that I can get started.

There are plenty of them. If you have a 3d printer (which I do not) there are even files ready to download you can use for cheap money. In fact there was a recent post here on the forum for one that seems very good, but I have spent enough money on tool stuff already. I am not willing to buy yet another gizmo quite yet.

I found a free 3d print file here on the forum that I am going to print today. Thanks again for the input.

Cheap out even further and if you didn’t already want/need the trim router, get the [cough] harbor freight [cough] one to use for a bit. They are apparently only 1mm smaller than the makita so the same shim should work with some extra torque or a piece of cereal box. And they are like 55 bucks before whatever coupon or weekend sale or whatever.

If you have a printer but don’t use CAD, I can send you a file made to fit any diameter if it isn’t already available.
