Masso released 5.09

Quite a range of new features, bug fixes, and improvements.
It may check some boxes for some users.

Ohh nice, I thought this wasn’t coming for a few months. Is it ready to use? Wait…the beta version is 5.1…the new release is 5.09…???

I went to Masso site, other than some release notes, I don’t see anything about it. Do we request a link or something? I can’t find any mention of how to get it. No mention of it in their forum. ???

If I update do I lose all of my settings (my touch probe dimensions, tool setter location, tool database, etc)? I watched a video of a guy saving his settings to a flash drive but he didn’t explain how to get your settings back in after the update

https://docs.masso.com.au/wiring-and-setup/save-and-load-settings

I infrequently update FW but when I do, besides saving backup settings and tool table files, I also print a copy of the printable settings .txt file and save screenshots of all my screens. I refer to the latter two after any update and go over every single parameter on every screen just to be sure.

Over time my ATC build has become more complex and therefore doublechecking everything helps mitigate or eliminate disaster should any gremlins happen to join the data transfer during updates or reinstalling backups.

Didn’t know this. I just got my elite a couple weeks ago and I’m used to updating buildbotics over wifi. This sounds like a lot of work so hopefully these updates aren’t too frequent

There isn’t much in this one that I personally need or want.
I am currently Beta testing the V5.100b.
If the current FW meets your needs, I would not bother changing - unless it has one or more ‘must haves’ for you.

Since you are a beta-tester, do you have any idea if 5.1 addreses the issues @Woodpecker brought up?

as @TMToronto pointed out, no need to update if it does not fix a problem you are having or add a feature you just can’t do without.

Applies to anything with FW/SW updates really.
If it ain’t broke don’t fix it.

I don’t consider those issues, rather the current feature set of the controller.

One reason I decided to use the Beta is that feed rate override to 150% is available. It also added new tool change functionality which for me was useful as I have an ATC system.

I personally do not have a need for the Gcode line updating, but the Beta now shows the executed line in the middle of the screen for any size file.

Save both the settings file and the printable file…just for recovery purposes.

If you leave your settings file in the folder, the update just works and you still have your settings. I made the mistake, when updating to 5.07, of removing the settings file before installing the update.

I just installed 5.09 and didn’t have any issues.

Peter has some decent videos on youtube about how to do the software update.

I’m a bit late to the party, but I am not given the option of downloading 5.09 in myWorkshop. Only the 5.1beta and 5.07, which I have installed currently.

I thought I would check here before going through MASSO support, in case I’m doing something dumb. Has anyone else had this issue?

We don’t recommend 5.09, it has bugs. Perhaps the pulled it. We recommend 5.07. It’s solid!

Ah. Good to know. Thanks!

it looks like 5.10 was released today with RapidChange ATC support. Does this eliminates the need for the RapidChange WebUI and subroutings? I’m wondering if there has been any testing done by Onefinity and when we should cut over

Where do you see that 5.10 is released?

I logged in to Masso myWorkshop and it there..release date 5/23

I am thinking switching will be a personal preference. Don of Rapid Change published a comparison of the two listing the pros and cons of each - I shared it in another post but it is on the WebUI.

As for testing, Onefinity may not have had enough time with it, especially if they received the final version when we did or not much earlier.
