which points to onefinity here Elite Series Masso Default Machine Settings and looks to be exactly my problem, as well as what I hoped would be the answer, a settings file from onefinity.
That didn’t do it either.
I rolled back to 5.10, which is as far back as they offer now, and reloaded the above file and no error!!
Just did the update from 5.10 to 5.13. All working great here!
Had the same issue, then I saved my settings to a text file first on the USB, printed it out, and after the update I just re-entered everything in the F1 screen and set up the inputs and outputs again. Bit of work but runs smooth now.
I’ve already been messing with the 200% feed override and find it’s awesome!
Checked out the new Lua custom button thing too, cant use it yet, but it looks pretty cool. Found this link about it: Custom Scripts (LUA)
All this Lua stuff is new to me but is kinda cool, actually. If it turns out to be good, I will probably grab the software package for it. Gonna play around more with the new features over the weekend.
My upgrade from 5.10 to 5.13 was flawless, and the feed rate override alone makes it worth it!
I’ve worked in software for 15 years, you cannot reasonable expect everything to be perfect all the time, so even if you have to re-enter the settings that is a small nuisance in the grand scheme of things, (though I did not have to do that this time).
Also, for new features like LUA, can you really expect companies to invest in the development and give them away for free? I mean, it would be nice, but if they don’t make money they go out of business. I’m not defending them for charging for things, just trying to share some perspective. I was relieved when they listed to their customers and dropped the idea of a subscription for all users, that would have probably driven me to another solution.
We were told by 1F that our set up is at the top Masso level is that wrong? If not how much does the LUA feature cost. I cannot find on the masso website. AND no the Big issue here is for the last 2 years we have been waiting for this very little update to support feedrate to 200 %
It was at the time I purchased my machine, and probably the same for you, but Masso has restructured their offering recently and we are on the Advanced offering. If you check the link below you can see there is one offering above where we are called ‘Professional’.
It is my belief that the direction changes of Masso are what sparked 1F to move towards the Redline controller and pursue a new partnership where they have more influence. Unfortunately this type of behavior happens all the time in the world of software, companies change direction and partnerships can suffer. I am still pleased with the Masso unit and it handles everything I throw at it. Sure, it would be nice if they could develop features faster, but you can say the same thing about 1F, as well as many other companies TBH.
Just wanted to jump in since a few OneFinity users emailed us directly asking for some clarity about the new MASSO software release. Some of the details weren’t very clear, so they asked us to join here and help out.
Version 5.13 brings some nice updates including Lua scripting to let you automate and customize your machine, feedrate override up to 200 percent, a new G200 command for more precise laser control, and an easier way to move the cursor on the touchscreen when editing text.
To clear up some confusion, software updates remain completely free for everyone. The new Professional version is only meant for high-end industrial machines that need very specific custom controls. We will continue adding new features and improvements to all MASSO controllers including Essential, Core and Advanced just like before.
We started as CNC users ourselves and we’re always here to help however we can.
So you should keep the fixes/changes in the minor version like 5.13 and not put in stuff that we can not get to or need to purchase??? If we must pay for Lua support then release a V6.0 Also you have no pricing on the email announcement? What is the price to enable LUA and is this the only thing or do we need to pay for anything else in this release? I do not want a lot of stuff in my firmware that cannot be used unless you pay the ransom
So lets take Vectric as a example…. Release V12 comes out and user may upgrade for ~$100-$200 dollars… Over the next year we get V12.x, V12.y, V12.x etc… No cost Then next year a lot of new stuff is released in V13 and you can upgrade again $ or not.. This is the smart way to do it. You say V5.13 is Free But what you do not tell us is O by the way the new LUA feature is not enabled and you need to send us some more money to enable it ?
Yep, kinda cute….the Onefinity is an “advanced” machine, but the LUA is “Professional” at $9.00 Monthly (US). There is a QR code generated by going to the F1 screen and double tapping the Custom Scrips (LUA) tab (second from the bottom on the left) which will take you to the orders page to subscribe.
The other features are enabled, such as 200% feed and RPM, as well as, a volumous offsets which are added below the normal screen (page down or scroll down).
So, I did update and will give it a try. Went from 5.07 via 5.12, then 5.13 and it worked correctly with no errors on either upgrade. For now, I’ll keep my $9.
Thanks everyone for the feedback and for taking the time to share your thoughts.
Just wanted to clarify a few things about how we handle software updates. At any given moment, we only maintain one software version across all MASSO controllers. This is done to make sure everyone stays on the same stable platform and no one misses out on bug fixes or improvements that might otherwise only exist in certain versions. Having just one version also helps us keep the system extremely stable and reduces the chances of introducing new bugs.
If we had to maintain multiple separate versions for each feature level, development would slow down a lot and users might end up stuck on older builds without access to the latest fixes or improvements. By keeping a single version, everyone benefits from all the core updates and reliability improvements that go into each release.
The Lua scripting option is something that was designed mainly for advanced and industrial users who need deep customization, but we’ll continue improving and adding new features for all other controller types as usual.
We really appreciate the discussion and honest feedback — it helps us keep improving in the right direction.
It appears that 5.13 has broken loading our factory default configuration resulting in a “System calibration memory settings is corrupted” error. We have reported this issue to Masso.
If you experience this issue use the new factory default configuration files from here that are for firmware 5.13+:
This isn’t a bug, it happens when we move to a new internal settings structure to support additional features in the software. Because of this change, older settings files are not compatible with the new structure, and the system resets them to default to ensure data integrity.
This is a “Bug” your team should plan ahead and not change “internal” setting this far in the game.. Just to add some light to this we all waited for over a year to get just a few little crumbs of fixes/improvement. Two that took way to long, feedrate and line count stopping Over 1 + years before you released this in 5.13. Feedrate for sure but I still need to check on the line count issue.
