Masso Responds to Onefinity and Customer Feedback – A Positive Step Forward

Thanks to the passionate and unified voices of our customers, Masso has reconsidered its approach. We’re excited to share the following key updates that reflect a stronger alignment between Masso, Onefinity, and our community:

Key Takeaways:

  1. Firmware Upgrades – Masso firmware updates will continue to be provided free of charge.
  2. Firmware Development – Updates are expected to become more frequent and robust, improving the overall user experience.
  3. Masso Link – The ability to wirelessly transfer files from PC to Masso will remain free.
  4. MyWorkshop Pro – The optional web-based monitoring subscription will be reduced to $9/month per controller.
  5. Subscription Flexibility – The optional subscription will shift from an annual commitment to a true monthly plan, offering greater flexibility.

We are proud to stand beside our customers in advocating for what matters most to you. With your support, and through productive conversations with Masso, we’ve reached an outcome that aligns with Onefinity’s values.

At Onefinity, we remain deeply committed to delivering the best CNC experience possible—even when that means having tough conversations with our OEM partners. Your voice makes a difference, and we’re grateful to be on this journey together.

Thank you to all the people who reached out to Masso and to Onefinity ref the software. Our Voices were heard here is the response

From Masso

Over the past few days, I’ve been personally reading your comments, emails, and messages and I want to start by saying: thank you.

As the founder of MASSO and a fellow CNC maker, your feedback means everything to me. Whether it was encouragement, criticism, or thoughtful questions, I’ve taken it all to heart. That’s why I’m writing to you personally today.

When we first introduced the idea of a $19/month subscription for both software updates and cloud services, our intention was to offset the rising costs of development, infrastructure, and support services. But, after hearing your feedback clearly and consistently, we realised something important:

If it doesn’t feel right to our community, it’s not the right path.

So we’ve made the decision to change our approach because doing what’s right for our users will always come first.

Here’s what we’ve decided and I hope this supports our CNC community:

All software updates for MASSO G3 will remain free because CNC users deserve ongoing innovation and bug fixes without barriers.
• PC based MASSO Link software for machine status and file transfer, and all future updates for MASSO Link will also remain free.
• All users will have access to their myWorkshop accounts to be able to manage and download current and new software versions.
• We will only charge a subscription for cloud-based services, like the MASSO myWorkshop PRO web and mobile apps. This is entirely optional and will be charged at a reduced fee of US$9/month/Controller, to help cover server and maintenance costs from 1st July 2025.
• These cloud-based features are currently available for free, and we highly encourage all users who haven’t explored them yet, to try them out and experience their benefits firsthand.
• And, to make this even easier for our users, we’ve chosen to offer it on a monthly basis instead of yearly, so you can manage your cashflow more easily, especially for smaller shops and hobbyists.

Thanks to Onefinity for supporting our community. Also it is heartening to know that Masso was listening to their customers and partners alike. The change in Masso’s position was better then expected. Although I am waiting for my Elite upgrade I think I would subscribe to My Workshop Pro when my Elite arrives, at least to try it out. Thanks again.

This is excellent news! And it shows that when there are enough voices in unison, they will be heard.

I wouldn’t be too excited. Put yourself in their shoes and ask yourself how you could abide by this (marketing) message and still get what you intended to get out of the original updated policies.

Go look at how Fusion and Glowforge have done the same after getting similar blowback from their customers.

This message (unlike their first botched communication) is a master class in placating outraged customers while still retaining the ability to do as you intended.

So you’re taking about all the tariffs that other countries put on us, right?

Lol.
