Maximum cutting thickness of MDF using Jtech 44W laser

Just hoping someone can tell me if the 44W Octo Pro from Jtech is capable of cleanly cutting through 3/4 to 1 inch MDF?

No it can’t. A 44W CO2 laser couldn’t either. You need far more power for that thickness.

Thank you. I have watched the videos but do you know if there is a maximum ability chart available for the 44W laser?

I haven’t seen one. But I know that you won’t do much more than 1/4" MDF in one pass with a 45W CO2 laser.

Diode lasers like the JTech are capable of 1/4" MDF but it’s going to take a bunch of passes. Each pass results in more charring and a wider kerf. Diode lasers are really more suited for engraving than cutting. The rule of thumb I’ve seen is that diode lasers power is effectively about 10% of a similarly rated CO2 laser. They’re also much slower. But you can engrave well and then cut with the router and you won’t find a CO2 laser with the bed size of a OneFinity so large engravings are more suited to the JTech add-on.

Thank you for this information. I will see in a few months when it all arrives.
