Multiple clearance passes in V-Carve Pro on v-carve toolpath

I wonder why we’re seeing different behaviors.

Here’s a V-Carve toolpath cutting to .25" depth

Here’s my clearance tool set to .0625" pass depth

Here’s part way through the simulated clearance carve showing the bit taking .0625" per pass

FWIW, I’m on V-Carve Pro version 11.552
