Newbie checking in

I pulled the trigger yesterday on the Woodworker X-50. I’m hoping to dive into the forum over the next 6-8 weeks waiting for delivery. I am a lifelong woodworking hobbiest and have been wanting a cnc for quite a while to kick some of my projects up to the next level and maybe make a little $$ on the side.

Priority list over the next couple months:

  1. pick a design software
  2. research options and upgrades
  3. familiarize myself with open source plans/projects
  4. start designing some ideas already bouncing around the old noodle

I’ve heard nothing but good things about the people in this forum and am looking forward to interacting with you all and hopefully someday contributing.

Hi Shawn, welcome to the forums, there is tons of good information here for you to read though while you wait for the CNC to arrive.

I wouldn’t get too sidetracked on accessories before you get your machine, you can review this post for some of the more essential items:

Now is a good time to find some CAD/CAM software you like - most have a free trial version you can use (some are completely free as well)
