QCW Fix Stand And Fixed Leg Kit

Is your bench mounted on wheels? It could be the mechanism in the wheel housing moving with the side force generated by the gantry.

I have an Elite Foreman with QCW heavy duty support. My only issue is deflection with the Z axis. It sometimes leaves steps in the finish. It gets worse the closer you get to the center.

Mine does the same thing. You need to tram it. The gantry is leaning. Unfortunately I haven’t found a new video on tramming the unit and i can’t find the adjusting screws in the frame. They’ve changed it.

But there’s hope. Using raster, set it at 90 degrees surfacing along the Y axis. Also reduce your step over to 30%.

This will force the bit to stay in one final level although it’s leaning.

The heavy duty is a good product. Very solid.

I have the Foreman I built a strong table and put a granite top on it. Within.002 all around.

I added leveling casters to my frame without any big modifications. The current threaded feet use an M10 bolt, and you can get leveling casters that mount with a single M12 bolt. I picked up adapters on amazon that convert M12 to M10, this plus a small spacer block let me mount the leveling casters in a way where I could easily go back to feet if I wanted to.

What table do you have? Where did you get the spacers? I have a Foreman Gen 1. If like to be able to roll it on two small ramps on either side of my welding table to straddle the table.

I have a Journeyman Gen2 with the heavy duty leg kit. I 3D printed the spacers, but they arent anything special, just a cylinder to roughly match the hole that the threaded feet fit into.

I have my Forman mounted to a granite plate. Being from the metal working industry I know you need rigidity and weight helps a lot. A small Haas weighs 7000 pounds. I haven’t run It yet (could use some help with that) thanks.

Is there space for a vertical drop through for end milling?

I love your setup. But what I’m really really pining for is enough space for the machine. I had to settle for a Machinist (16"x16") due to a full set of woodworking tools in a very limited space. DARN I envy you your space!

I ended up with a 50x100 inch table journeyman on top

table came with the machine. She barely fits in one corner of my 12x16 shed. It is tight so I wouldnt mind swapping to a smaller table to reclaim some space in the shed but extra table space is always nice when you dont have a ton of flat space.

Could be mistaken but I believe he is referring to an area at the front of the CNC where the spindle can still reach yet it allows for the piece to be vertically held rather than flat on the bed horizontally. One can do interesting milling on the ends of pieces with that.
