I just cut out a pocket and want to now carve inside that pocket. For this carving tool path, I set my start depth as the depth of the pocket I just made. For the Z probe, do I probe on the top of the original surface or the new lower pocket surface?
Set zero at the top of your material and then set your start depth to the depth of the pocket. If you zero off the bottom of the pocket you risk smashing the bit and/or router into the material since it doesn’t know there is material above the pocket depth.
