Everything else has been beefed up and upgraded. Can you look into offering shielded cable kits?
It’s unlikely. I made my own using double shielded motion rated cables with aviation connectors, grounded to my controller’s enclosure, per long established best practices for CNC machines that 1F deems unnecessary.
If you use cables other than what 1F offers, they will not support you if you have problems.
I wouldn’t recommend aviation connections as those are a pain to solder as well. It is a standard for a long time. Masso recommends them for the steppers they use. Other hobby machines have them like the genmitsu. It makes sense to me at least they should be part of the new standard and supported if you get them from 1F. Anything that would help us and them. They have a small company even smaller tech support team. We have problems with our machines and emi is thrown out there as the culprit quite often. This is specifically for that. Seems a win win. All for the added cost of better shielded wire. They already make the wiring and offer replacement cables. Previously they didn’t support spindles and now they do. So fingers crossed at least.
Me too. I have the new Elite Redline Foreman and it routinely locks up and requires a hard power down and restart. It’s not every job nor a specific runtime. But every job is questionable as to whether it will run through correctly. So I have to take a photo of the positioning before I hit the start button so I can get it repositioned after repowering.
I have followed OF’s and Redline’s directions on how to eliminate static. I’ve also got ferrite beads (chokes) on all wires. I’m on my 3rd vac/dust collector with antistatic hoses (that are grounded per OF instructions). I’ll likely spend as much in ruined projects as I saved over a more robustly constructed machine in terms of electrical management. It’s especially irritating because I never had these issues with my original BB based Journeyman. ![]()
Dont include the power cables in the ferrite cores as theyre supposed to be separated from the signal wires. Probably wont help as they all run together unshielded anyways in the drag chain and wire looms.
