My set up is with the Elite/Masso, tool setter, Touch probe and Water cooled VFD spindle.
What I do not think is explained very well is the overall setting for using the set up above…
If I have a g code file with two tools and the T1 M06 command is triggered (Tool change)
I first see the M05 command sent to spindle down the spindle.
Next is the T2 M06 command with should trigger the tool setter, But we need to make sure the spindle has completely stopped OR you could do bad things to the tool setter.
From what I can tell is the “Spin down time” In the main spindle setting need to be set to what your spindle time is need to completely stop for me this is a value that should be set testing from a speed of 24,000RPM’s which takes a very long time like 20 seconds. The spin up time is also important to make sure you are at speed before you start cutting… BUT Again this spin down time if you are using the Tool setter can be a big problem if I am thinking about this correctly. I am going to do some testing on this.
But if anyone has already tested this please give me your input.
This could be a problem to others that do not understand all the setting…
In the masso user manual it has this
In the Spindle Settings window the mode of spindle control can be selected. Further, Spin UP and Spin DOWN delay values can be added. The spindle delay values pauses the machine on spindle ON and OFF commands for the spindle to get to the required RPM.
And what I do not think is clear is masso has no way to measure RPMs the VFD is open loop.
