is anyone out there using starlink to connect their cnc’s to the net? any opinions on it please no politics just working facts thanks.
I’ve never hooked a CNC up to the internet through Starlink, but we did have Starlink for several years at the family property up north and it worked well. Sometimes things slowed down a bit in heavy rain or snow, but even in years when we’ve gotten six to eight feet of snow, the antenna’s internal heater kept the panel clear. I have no recollection of having any long outages.
As a internet service provider it’s essentially transparent to the end users versus any other service we’ve used. They eventually ran fiber through a community program and we switched two years ago, but we still have the antenna mounted and can fire it up and activate the account in minutes if we ever loose access to our ground based provider.
You might want to find some other folks who are using it locally to see what kind of download speeds they’re getting. It is subject to congestion based on the total number of users sharing the satellites uplink and downlink capabilities. In far northern Vermont we didn’t have anyone else in the area we knew who used the service (I’m sure they were out there) but even if everyone was, the population’s so sparse, it probably wouldn’t have impacted us. If you live in a heavier population, or don’t have a good clear view of the sky (tall trees w/o a big opening in canopy can severely degrade your signal), you may not have as good a result.
I use mine connected to Starlink. No problems.

it is satellite internet connection. I got it because my cable company kept having problems and the speed was 88mbs Starlink gives me 400Mbps. for the same money.
