I have installed my Onefinity Elite Woodworker CNC using the Redline Controller and 80 mm spindle in my garage. My garage is detatched and is too far away from my home networks. As a result, I am trying to connect my Redline Controller to my iphone hotspot.
The Redline Controller is finding the networks no problem with 100% signal strenght when my phone is next to my router. After entering my password and trying to connect, however, I keep getting a “Error starting network connection”. I have tried this numerous times and am sure that my password is entered correctly.
The computer and controller must be on the same network to connect. Hotspots from cell phones may not work due to ip address configurations it may assign.
I have pretty good Wi-Fi in my garage but it was still hit and miss to get connected so I tried a random usb Wi-Fi adapter I had and I kept getting that “Error starting network connection” so I finally gave up on that, then I got the bright idea to use a Eero booster amplifier thing that was once used in an upstairs office for a work at home situation I have it underneath my qcw connected with a network cable and it works flawlessly now no real Wi-Fi connection involved
Thanks for the feedback. ChatGPT indicated to me the best way to solve is to purchase a cheap travel router (about $40) and then I assume connect it via lan cable to the CNC and my laptop via USB or via Wifi. Going to give that a try. Worse case scenareo I buy a couple of SD cards and use it.
