I’m Running a 2hp dust collector system (harbor freight w/ cyclone), 4in hose to the Suckit SM w/ 4in adapter. The bristles are sucking right up into the dust boot, and I get a small % of the dust/chips flying all over.
Wondering if anyone has had luck replacing the bristles with something stiffer?
I recall hearing the softer bristles were helpful during tool changes, as the amount of compression needed with long endmills created too much force and occasionally the ring would dislodge. I can imagine the power of your vacuum may require a stiffer bristle.
I have sourced brushes such as this on Mcmaster Carr - just make sure to match the dimensions of the brush band. From the pictures it looks to be ~ 4-5 mm x 4-5 mm.
I just finished automating my vac so it shuts off before a tool change and I still had the dust boot get stuck and almost snapped a bit.
The bristles are too fine and stay bent back into the boot just enough that they fold up into itself during a tool change, and then the boot gets stuck.
I have a similar problem. The bristles do not suck up as far as yours, but do enough to jam on tool changes. I ended up only using the short brush. I can accept just picking up the finer dust when high above the work piece. I guess life is compromise.
Ok possible solution, placed the bristles and ring on a ball to splay them outward, then superglued around the top. Seems to work so far, tool changed without issue.
