Got the Infinity Tuesday and got it set up today! Decided to keep it super minimal until I have used it a bit and can decide on the best setup for my situation.
My machine just arrived also, 4 weeks before I expected it. So my table isnât built. My plan is to make a torsion box and mount it on a cabinet. In this first stage I can make paths within the box, if there are cables that donât move during operations (reduce snags, dust). I see you have one cable in front of the QCW. Are there other cables that would be helpful to âtunnelâ? If so, what landmarks on the machine best describe the places to enter/leave the hidden path(s)?
The torsion box and cabinet are âupsizedâ versions of one I built as an âassembly table / table saw outfeedâ. For construction advice, see a Youtube series by âDown To Earth Woodworkerâ. The first video is:

I modified his, and if youâd like a copy of my version, let me know. I use TurboCAD, so tell me if you need a different file type.
After I figure the machine out, I plan to build an enclosure, so the table is sized to accommodate one. That design is still being worked out.
While weâre at it, hereâs a question for the experienced users: How many drawers or bays are useful in a cabinet beneath your 1F? My plan has a shelf in the back for a cooling fluid pump/reservoir. In front I have four drawers, each 20" long, 13" wide x 5.5" deep (5" deep considering the drawer bottom). Beneath that thereâs space for eight more (same size) but that seems excessive. The space can also be left open by adding doors, or some combination of drawers and cabinet space. After setting aside the top 4 drawers, thereâs still a lot of room: 15" H, 22" D, 56" W.
There are three cables from the monitor. Two to the back of the control box and on to a USB power plug. Depending if you want to be able to carry the monitor around or not, those could be usefully channeled. As could the power cord for the control box. The other cables create my a mess in my setup are the cord for the z probe and the USB cord for the joystick, but I donât think those can be channeled.
Iâm really considering getting the folding/rolling table. I had planned to make a container for it but the dust and noise arenât as bad as I thought, so Iâm holding off on that. Iâm half tempted just to get some lockable casters and screw them right into where the leveling feet go, twist tie the cords I can and call it a day. Keep it super minimal.
Was getting all set to build and then found Kregtool.com. They make a steel table that is the exact same width and depth as the one I was planning on building. The even make a 21" high version that would have been very close (just a bit taller) than the one I designed. Having worked low for a while, I decided a higher table would be to my liking after all. so I got the 31" tall version with dual locking casters. So far so good. I will probably get a couple drag chains (at least one for the Y and AZ stepper cables). And might eventually build in some drawers for the small parts, but liking my new setup after one day of using it!
The Kreg frames are very nice and the price is compelling at todayâs lumber costs. I got the same size and put a torsion box on top. Rock solid.
