Hello, all;
I just got my new Redline Gen 2 upgrade working, and ran my first carve. It was a very simple one, as I wanted to make sure that the tool setter worked as advertised.
I’ve read and watched every piece of information I can find on tool setter installation and use. I went through the setup procedure, seemed to go well. I did an XYZ probe and ran my code. First part of the carve was OK. When I got to the first manual tool change, the routine went smoothly, but when the carve resumed, the new bit wound up about 1/2" above the material surface.
Going back through the Redline manual, I read that every time you change a bit, you should run “Tool Length Offset” from the “Tool” tab on the main page. I’ve never done this, as I assume the that’s what the tool setter calculates.
I re-calibrated the tool setter, and tested it without making a cut. It seemed to work OK.
I’m just looking for a little confidence-builder here. Am I missing anything? When is that “Tool Length Offset” function used with the tool setter installed?
Thanks for any help.
