Good afternoon 1F users!
I received my big boxes of upgrades and the packaging and quality of the goods was exceptional.
My upgrade, here is what I upgraded in one swoop!
-
BB to Redline Upgrade Kit - This really a straight forward process, even though I did forget to tighten the X-Axis coupling and wondered why the X-Axis motor seemed very weak. The worst bit of the upgrade in all honesty are the plastic connector retainers Z1, X1 to Z2 , X2 etc. be extremely careful not to pinch the wires for the motors.
-
Redline Spindle 80MM - Changed the Z slider installed spindle, surfaced spoil board then trammed the Z slider got it to within 0.003" in Y and 0.004" in X tick in the box. Mounted VFD under the table top, added the DRO to the 15" HDMI controller. Only issue the (4) bolts supplied for mounting the Z slider to carriage were too short and did not account for the increased thickness front plates of the Z slider. This was an easy install.

ATC this was the most technically challenging for me (other more intelligent peoplekinds experience may differ). As all was not super immediately clear as the ATC came with Rapid change ATC code and a onetime code like thingy, so logged into Rapid Change, read all the instructions tried using the Rapid Change wizard and it was quite painful and did not work well for me. Support sent me a new Redline On-line manual that had this super simple setup wizard, could not find it on my controller, ha I had an outdated FW version, updated FW to latest ran ATC wizard and all is now good!
I have ran my first job using my brand new Redline configuration, Redline 80MM Spindle, ATC and my new touch probe. I made some soda bottle cap openers and they turned out well, using 2 tool changes just because I can (LOL).
Why am I writing all this, quite simply to say the kits are excellent, not super difficult to install/upgrade are of great quality and the support teams are awesome and do not be afraid to upgrade you will be amazed by the results!
I only wish 1F sold slide covers for our older machines… hey 1F what about selling slide covers I can always paint over the Elite stuff…
Forgot to add, the drag chains do an awesome job, but holy hana cable management was a major pain if you are like me and have OCD and cannot have cables draping everywhere!
