V-carve inlay - accuracy?

I have an elite foreman. I am trying to do in-lays but they wont work, by this I mean that the female is always off of the male. I have watched every video, had several conference calls and to no avail. I am using the same vector, just mirrored and I have checked they line up. When I cut them one corner of the plug fits, but the opposite corner does not line up.

I am using V-carve Pro latest version, using the v-carve path not the v-carve inlay tool.

I did some test carves, all numbers in inches: I carved a 3-4-5 triangle to test my machines accuracy and when I measured with my calipers I got 2.98-3.96-4.95.

I then carved a cross that is 2.5 inches tall, and 3 inches wide and get 2.49 and 2.98.

This seems pretty accurate, is there any way to increase the accuracy of this machine? Is .05 enough to throw off my inlays?

Thank you,

Why are you not using the inlay toolpath?

Hello Zachariah - are those measurements in inches or mm? Assuming they are inches since you say the cut is 2.5” tall. Frankly, 0.02” is not what I would expect. You should be getting sub-0.005” accuracy. Though it probably matters what you are measuring with - digital calipers?

Have you tested if the machine is calibrated properly? Lots of good suggestions in that thread.

Tom,

Thank you. I am measuring with digital calipers. Everything was in inches.

I have read through your how to guide, and need to find an accurate rule, I only have a 24 incher.
