So, I have vcarve pro 11.5 and was wondering if it was worth it to upgrade to v12. So, for the guys who did upgrade, is it worth the $195? I wish I could say that I use my 1f all the time, but I’m just a hobby guy who hasn’t had much time in the last few years.
I’m in the same boat, same Vectric package 11.5. Frankly for the price I wouldn’t bother until you start banging up against the limitations of the software, which will take you quite a long time. The learning curve is long enough as it is and you’ll have many, many projects under your belt before you feel the need for a software packet to do something you feel the present software isn’t up to. Bang away at it and have some fun.
Take a look at the feature changes and see if they are worth it. Do you want the Keep-out zones? Sketch carving? New V-Carve inlay? Drawing in 3D/Updated UI? Only you can figure out if those are worth the money to you. I was fortunate in that I was in my first year so got the V12 upgrade for free. I like it.
Honestly, this is what has kept me from upgrading so far. And I have heard others say basically the same too. I haven’t done any inlays (but would like to), recently picked up a rotary axis that I would like to play with. I don’t use vcarve( so far anyway) for anything other than the toolpaths after I import a model I did in fusion360.
The inlay routine alone is worth the price to upgrade.
And don’t forget the new Sketch Carve feature.
It is worth it to me!
