Wandering MPOS - URGENT

As it stands, the machine is unusable due to the wandering MPOS between operations. Below are the details and results of my first cuts after upgrading a Journeyman X-50 to Redline Elite.

See photo.
Grid 1 was cut with a single file

Grid 2 bounding box cut with one file, then grid cut with another, everything looked good. Two tool changes (no cuts between), some G53 move commands in MDI, and re-ran the grid file. MPOS shifted up (Y+)

Grid 3 bounding box cut with one file, then grid cut with another, everything looked good. Two tool changes and some manual jogging, re-ran the file. Both X and Y MPOS shifted.

Grid 4 bounding box cut with one file, then grid cut with another, everything looked good. No tool changes, just manual jogging around the, re-ran the file. Y MPOS shifted.

I confirmed it was an issue with the machine zero by moving to machine home and comparing the displayed coordinates with the physical location of the limit switches. It was interesting that Z zero never drifted, only X and Y.

I’ve sent an email off to support@realtimecnc.com with photo, full details of test, NGC files, post processor file, and CRV file.

I’ve had the same issue for a few iterations where it would randomly adopt a new home. I’ve also had it move using the joypad in a random direction for a bit before correcting

So I don’t know if this applies to the Gen 2 but some users on the Gen 1 were having an issue with joypad drift. Maybe remove the joypad connection and see if that corrects the problem

Good lookin’ out, thanks for the tip.

I’ve been working with 1F and Realtime support folks via email. We still don’t have it worked out, but testing without the gamepad connected was not one of the suggested tests.

I’ll give it a shot. Nothing to lose, and I can’t really do anything else with the machine until the problem gets resolved.

I can dry-run files, so I did get a bunch of post processor tweaks done. At least there’s that.

I think I’ve seen the reverse gamepad direction momentarily a few times, but couldn’t reliably replicate it, so I thought maybe it was a figment of my imagination.

Also, just rebooted with no gamepad dongle and tested, zero is still floating around.
