Want ot control Vacuums, Pumps and other things with your RedLine?

For what it’s worth I just used some solid core 2-conductor bell wire (basically the stuff you use to hookup a thermostat or (not so oddly) a door-bell.

I’m using it to turn the vacuum table on and off from the touchscreen.

Works well enough, I’d prefer a solution that gave me all four outputs like @tjp52’s project, though I’ll probably have to take the mini apart and reverse engineer it so I still have the connections for automatic tool changer.

That’s a interesting system.

It looks like it’s a system that fires up your dust collector/vac when you manually open the gates?

Hmmm…Unfortunately I don’t know enough about how the old or the new blast gates work to provide any useful information.

I looked for but couldn’t find what I thought would be a simple solution…

A 120V plug in device that would control a 220V output… and either my google-fu is bad (likely) or it’s just something nobody has thought of building.

I just seems so straightforward, plug it into a 120V outlet and when the outlet is ‘live’ then trigger a relay that would connect the 220V input to the 220V output.. but…

Why couldn’t you have a 220v device control a 220v load?

That’s ok. It will give me something to research. In this case, the unit provides the current and the relay. Any switch that completes the circuit between the two poles turns on the power. A different approach than your relay. I’m guessing I’m looking for something more like this: Amazon.com: Lowell Manufacturing RPC-20-SCD 20A Low Voltage Remote Power Control with Surge Protection, 6' Cord, 1 Duplex Outlet : Electronics

Thanks again for the valuable information you provided.

Yes, and it’s been working great for a long time. There is a simple switch on each blast gate - when you open the gate it turns the switch on, close the gate and it turns off. It turns out the io port on the Redline motion controller duplicates a simple switch on/off when you issue the M8/M9 commands.

The only problem is the supplier, Penn State Industries, stopped making the wired version so I can’t get the 220v version. They only have the wireless version now.

I started with that plan. Unfortunately, it’s only rated for 10 amps. It won’t work with my 15 amp dust collector, and there’s no 220v option. Thanks.

What if I could make this box for 220V, compatible with your existing wired blast gates, wireless remote control and able to be controlled by your CNC…would you be interested?

Hi Tom. Thanks for the offer, but I’m going to hold off for now. I am still evaluating the 220 dust collector options. I may come back to you in a couple of months. Thanks again.
