I am getting ready to build a new table for my new journeyman and wondering what you all have used to finish coat the top surface that your machine mounts on. Paint, clear coat, etc?
I didn’t see a need to finish the tabletop. My Foreman Elite is on a naked chipboard tabletop.

Nothing. My top is a piece of 18mm Baltic Birch plywood, with a piece of 1" MDF mounted in between the Y-rails. A 1" MDF spoilboard mounts on top of that.
My Journeyman is in a climate-controlled space; I might have used a finish if it was going to be in a space with wide humidity swings.

No finish at all. My table top is MDF on a torsion box I would think that a finish would actually pose a problem if not done properly, ensuring you do the same on the bottom as the top surface otherwise you can wind up with warping. Not a good thing for a CNC table.

Yeah, there would be a chance of that. Thanks
