Whiteside Feeds and Speeds

Hello all,
Just a curious question from a semi Newb. I’ve been working with my Onefinity now for about 3 months. I generally have no issues breaking bits or ruining work pieces. I was using the Whiteside imported tool database but recently switched to some Amana and some IDC Woodcraft Bits and noticed that the database that they use is much slower than what what side has set. For instance, IDC may be set at at feed rate of 65 for a 1/4 down cut where Whiteside would be at 160ipm. Amana more follows IDC as well.

The question is, should I change my Whiteside to follow more closely with IDC and Amana and if so, what are the benefits? Thanks

I have all IDC Woodcraft bits. My experience with feeds and speeds with the Makita is that Garrett’s values are real close. If anything, I back them off a bit. Not having a spindle, I can’t say if that would be the difference in pushing the bits harder. All I can say, if I stick to Garrett’s feeds and speeds, I have yet to break a bit.
