Just discovered this page of the forum and decided to throw my design into the mix. I’ve seen other pen holder designs on here and Etsy, but wanted one that was more beefy than just a 3D printed one and was worried a plastic spring would wear out or break over time, so I made my own. Mine uses a metal spring, linear bearings, and is strengthened with a custom cut piece of steel to give extra rigidity. Been using it for a couple years now and really like it.
Do you recommend settings for some of the different pencils / markers you’ve used? If you don’t I’d suggest a chart with what’s worked in your testing. If that’s information you send along post sale, that makes perfect sense as well. I know everyone’s experience varies, but starting points are always appreciated.
Final question (I promise) with the file only option do you include a vector file for the steel insert, in case someone has the ability to cut their own reinforcement cores?
I do include notes in the file about settings that work for me, but I’ve kept them pretty simple as I haven’t had to tweak them a whole lot based on what writing utensil or material I’m using.
And I hadn’t thought about adding a vector file for the metal part to the print kit, but I’ll get that added! I special order my metal parts so sometimes I forget that people have the ability to do that at home. ha.
