Is using the 1F probe tp probe for XYZ the same as zeroing X, Y and Z?
Thanks, Mark
Hey Mark,
you can use the XYZ Touch plate to zero X, Y and Z at the same time, or Z only.
You can see how this works in this video:
Of course you can also jog somwhere manually, with the Jog Pane, the Gamepad, the command entry field of the manual data interface (MDI) and then zero manually:
Hi Mark,
Short answer is yes. Using the probe and selecting “Probe X/Y/Z” on the display is the same as setting each, just not manually. I hope I’ve understood your question correctly, if not, please let us know?
Wayne
I’m just starting with touch probe (from 360)
My first hole was out
- too deep - suppose to be 12 mm but was 14.9 mm
- out on X and Y by +50.42 and +50.53 respectively
- diameter was real close suppose to be 45.26 and I measure it as 45.34
I first pressed bottom left corner of probe screen and when it was done then I pressed the center square
Any recommendations?
Hey Garry,
unfortunately you did not tell that you have a Elite Series machine with the Masso G3 Touch Controller. Please see here this support video:
Also be sure that you have the correct dimensions of your XYZ touch plate set inside the controller, otherwise you will get wrong positions.
Thanks for the confirmation, Aiph5u, and especially the illustrations. Mark
Sorry about not mentioning Masso !!
Thank you - I figured it out last evening. Second hole was exactly where I wanted it and the correct depth.
Now I’m moving on to see about slowing down the spindle to work with 5mm brad point drill bits.
Essentially you need to use various measurements depending on how you are indexing.
Thanks for confirming that, Wayne. Thats a great help. Mark
Sorry I cant help you that, Garry. I’m new too.

Further to my zeroing question, when I Home I get the following occurs: Makita goes up, Makita goes down, Estop is activated. Status for X, Y and Z is Unhomed, Z Toolpath is “Over”, X and Y are OK. If I Probe for X, Y and Z, it moves around but not the way its supposed to(I have done this successfully in the past). Is something not set correctly? Is the probe or workpiece not positioned properly? Thanks,
Mark
Hi Mark,
With the G3 Touch, I believe you can set you these fields for X Offset, Y, Offset, Z Offset to accommodate the shift in zero to the spoil board. I run them at all zeros in my case, but I believe this is where you can make the adjustment once, instead of altering your tool diameters each time.
I think they are in the touch probe settings in the F1 screen.
Thanks, Brian. I’ll check it out. Mark
