A separate probe xy only button. If you using anything other than a straight bit, you will need to re-probe Z again after installing the new bit ie. V-carve bit. The initial Z probe is pointless in this case.

I understand what you’re saying, but the z-probing step establishes the top surface of the plate so the gcode knows how far it can drop down for finding the x and y edges, without crashing into the bed.
I feel like there would be a greater chance of user error without that step.

go ahead and probe the Z - but don’t re-zero it!
I like running with Z zero at the spoilboard - have to reset it after probing for X and Y. Not a huge deal, but who doesn’t like more options?
