1/8 or 1/16 cutter dia. collet or 1/4 shank cutter

Are people using 1/4 shank bits in the makita router or a collet to hold the smaller 1/8 or 1/16 dia. cutter?

Both. You can get 1/8" bits with a 1/4" shank. If the bit you’re interested in is only available in a 1/8" shank then you can use a 1/8 collet. Elaire has collets for the Makita.

I haven’t seen any 1/16" collets for the Makita though.
