32" X axis with a 48" Y axis

Has anyone configured their machine for a 32” X axis and 48” Y axis?

Hi Mark - welcome to the forums.

Perhaps I’m being dense, but how is that any different from X=48 and Y=32? Just turn the machine 90 degrees and make sure your X/Y axis in your CAM software is correct? Though I get the Y rails would be in the way entering from the front and back. Just a thought.

Having a 48”X 32”Y would be awesome. It would fit in a smaller width space and would work better for a large number of projects that are naturally oriented in that direction.

This topic has been brought up before and Onefinity responded by offering their 48” Y rails as a separate purchase. Unfortunately they cost almost as much as a whole new machine, $1,700 US and you must return your 32” rails.

It’s beyond me why they don’t just make it a choice when buying a new machine. It’s especially frustrating knowing that so many major CNC companies do offer portrait orientated machines.

Having to constantly rotate designs to match a Journeyman’s layout would be a drag and seriously prone to screwing up.

Just change your work origin on the machine and on whatever you use for CAD/CAM. Unless you are talking about loading and unloading material and not wanting the side rails in the way.
