Just curious if anyone out there has come across designs for a dust hose mount for their machine. I’ve got a swinging arm holding the dust hose up off the work, but every now and then the hose will get pinched between the spindle and linear shaft. I’m looking for something that mounts to the x-axis gantry block, either adding onto or replacing the cable clamp. I was able to find a 3D model online that I may manipulate around and print, but I figured I’d ask the community here to see if there was something ready-made. Or to help me generate ideas. Cheers, folks!
To be clear, I’m using the nighthawk dust boot, so it’s a front-mount hose.
Check out PwnCNC as they have alot of parts for hose management. They also offer the files for printing yourself.
You have a cnc machine. Just sayin.
And a 3d printer. Doesn’t mean that it won’t save me time modeling something if there’s a ready bake solution. This post is intended to save time, to see if anyone out there has something they found helpful. Helpful being the operative word here…
Will do, thanks for the tip.
just received my Elite Journeyman yesterday so moving to get everything built and set up to start running.
My apologies, I guess my definition of “helpful” is outdated. I’m old school. I come from a time when a question like “how do I make something for my cnc machine” would result in a smack to the back of the head.
Neat, thanks for missing the point entirely again, John. So glad you’re contributing to the conversation in a meaningful way
Woot! I was stoked when mine came, I imagine you’re in the same boat. A big plus for the Elite systems is the short amount of time needed before they’re up and running.
Oh, you mean about the time saved? You mean the time you could have spent modeling up a simple bracket and sending it to your 3d printer instead of trolling the forum? Is that the point you were talking about?
I think it’s time to get myself kicked outta here, it’s basically another twitter at this point.
Adios to all.
John, I’m clearly not trolling the forum. It could very easily be argued that your initial response was. Get real. This post was meant to see if others had come up with unique solutions to the same issue I have. I’m inventive but I am not so arrogant to think that I’ll always have the best design, which is why I would poll the forum. After all, that is one of the key benefits to a forum like this. Time is a premium, so if I can post on this board at the beginning of the day, then have some ideas to peek at when I get home in the evening, it will undoubtedly save me time. Not sure why you took umbrage with me seeing what clever solutions others have come up with, but you might want to revisit your reason for being here… If you can’t contribute in a meaningful way, take a hike.
Indeed. I often buy vs make because the time & materials costs for a one-off often exceed the cost and convenience of ready made. Just because I can make something doesn’t mean I have to.
I use a bungie with one end wrapped around the hose and the other end to an eye hook in the ceiling. The bungie has enough give to support it while also letting it move around as it cuts.
Yes! Stuff like that. I found a file that I don’t particularly like the mount for but the base of it is great. So I have made a new model that is using that model’s base, but I chopped off everything else to make it more suitable. Stuff like this lets me view other solutions to model a bespoke one for myself if I don’t find a ready-made solution I like. I dig the concept of the one you showed but I think it’s a bit too clunky. If I do come up with a custom mount, I’ll post some pictures here for y’all to take a gander at. Thanks for sharing!
If your hose is getting pinched when it slackens, you could try a clear PVC tube attached to the dust shoe so that the hose end is higher.
Hey @dfallon , just curious when you placed your order. Did you order as part of the promotion for the Elite?
@mrKrag yes I was waiting everyday for the the Elite offer as part of the 12 days of Christmas and ordered the day it came out in Nov.
