We are considering the foreman elite platform for our educational program but are looking for CO2 and Fiber lasers in place of a diode. Does anyone have experience, suggestions or referrals for us. Thanks in advance.
We’ve never seen it done on a Onefinity machine. The Jtech Diode is the only official option.
The foreman is a great machine…and I would never put a co2 laser on mine, especially in an educational setting, given that it is an open frame design.
Personally, I would only ever consider co2 in a closed frame…though I did search out options at one time to try and fit a co2 laser on my onefinity (specifically for clear acrylic), but the more I learned about risks the less sense it made to even attempt it. I ended up getting an inexpensive, dedicated, and fully enclosed co2 laser (a k40+).
I started with K40s years ago. They came with their own issues - like grounding wires from the power cord not connected inside the machine. I had current leakage through my concrete floor and if it was damp right back through me to the machine when I’d be working on it
The not as cheap Chinese lasers are much safer than the K40 design although YMMV because not all factories building K40s are equally irresponsible.
