Anyone have this problem?

I had an odd thing happen to me concerning sheets and toolpaths
I have not had this happen before today (but I don’t make new sheets very often)

VCarve Pro v12 with latest update

I had this happen in an existing drawing, so i made a new test file and it does it in this too. “New” file is attached
Also does it in old files created in previous versions
Even a restart/reboot does not stop this

*I had a finished drawing
*Made a new sheet in that drawing (sheet 2)
*Copied a part of the drawing to the new sheet 2
*Discovered that new sheet 2 has the group name of the existing toolpaths from the original, but no toolpaths
*Deleted the group name in the new sheet 2 and discovered that this also deletes the group in the original sheet and/or if I delete the group in the original sheet, it deletes it from new sheet 2
*If you make a new sheet again and copy from sheet 2, it will happen again

I can find nothing about this online or in this forum and have sent it to Vectric
Comments?
Thanks,
Pony

What you describe is accurate. When you make a new sheet, the layers are also copied (but with nothing in them on the new sheet).

The toolpath problem can be resolved by using Toolpath Templates. On Sheet 1, create a template with you existing toolpaths and then from Sheet 2, import that toolpath template.

Thank you.
It solves part of the problem. But it doesn’t solve the group problem. Even after using the template fix, if you create a group in one, it still creates an empty group in the other which means they are still interconnected.

I guess I’ll go back to separate drawings if I think I’ll be using groups.

If you copy a grouped item to the other sheet, the copy will still be grouped. You can un-group them if you want.

Only the item you copy will be on the other sheet. I’m not sure what you mean by an empty group.

If I take an example of 2 toolpaths in one sheet that has been put into the other sheet via the template method (thank you very much), I discovered that if I then group those 2 toolpaths in either sheet, an empty group with no toolpaths will be created in the other.

If you go to delete that empty group, you will get a warning that the group & toolpaths in the other sheet will be deleted and that does happen.

I’m not at my CAD right now to send an example, but you could do this with any simple drawing.

In my mind, the 2 sheets should be completely unique and not have a parent/child relationship.

I may be chasing windmills, but I come from a CAD background that used super high end parametric software, and sometimes VCarve drives me nuts that it doesn’t have certain features (such as scaling of dimensions when you scale a drawing or 1 click Dimension All). But I do like VCarve.

Here is the reason I hate multiple sheets on a drawing being interconnected.
I have now ran into this problem with toolpaths.
I’m going back to individual files.
