Best bits on Oramask

Hi everyone
Are down cut bits best for using Oramask projects ? I tried a v bit and it made a mess of the Oramask pulled parts it up. I had the Oramask on very well for the acrylic I cleaned it with rubbing alcohol and for the wood I shellac the wood 2 coats. I found my down cut bits did the best job but was hoping on using v bits.
