Can the Apprentice use the RapidChange ATC? (FAQ)
It uses the same motion controller as the Redline, so from a controller standpoint, yes — it’s fully capable.
From a hardware standpoint, no (at least not without modification). The Easy ATC requires an ER20 collet and an 80mm spindle, and the Apprentice tops out at 65mm. The overall gantry height is also much shorter, so physical clearance becomes an issue.
And honestly, the Apprentice wasn’t designed for the ATC crowd. It’s built for the user who wants to dip their toes into CNC without ending up with cheap import frustration. If you’re someone who already knows what “ATC” stands for, the Gen 2 Elite Series is where you want to be
