Hey Frank,

after its author wrote the camotics.org software, which simulates any g-code visually that you give it, they created the buildbotics.com CNC controller.

It’s a software that shows what the buildbotics controller (and its derivate, the Onefinity controller of Original/PRO/X-50 Series) will do with your g-code.

Regarding the static electricity in your dust collection system, it’s the air and the particles which move that create the static electricity. The only thing to avoid this is to use all-metal tubes for dust collection. But you can avoid to get shocks when you touch it, see below.

The copper on your dust collection hose helps nothing if the hose is made of plastic.

Should I spiral a wire around the outside of my dust collection hose/separator and connect it to ground? What about the vacuum cleaner itself (it’s not pictured, but it’s in the same cabinet)?

I’ve linked the moment in the video where the author gets to the summary, but of course it’s worth watching from the beginning.

If you get electric shocks from static electricity from your dust hose, you can however cover the areas you usually touch with copper tape or aluminim foil and ground it, so you don’t get the shocks anymore, but basically you can’t ground any non-conductive material itself. All the instructions about this you find in youtube are nonsense.

Here you can see that even though the PVC pipe is wrapped with grounded wire, it still attracts paper scraps when it is statically charged.
