Copying post-processors to a different program

I’m trying to use DeskProto with my Foreman Elite, but Onefinity informed me that the Masso G3 post-processor that they provide is only three-axis. I know that Carveco has a Masso 4-axis processor. I was able to copy it out of the Carveco library and save it. DeskProto customer support is closed until the 26th. Does anyone here know if it’s possible to copy processors from one CAM package to another?

Thanks!

“…Does anyone here know if it’s possible…”

Well, no. My wife’s car keys also wont work in my truck.

Maybe some brainiac could modify it to work, but…why not just invest your time and energy into learning Carveco? Even if for just 4th axis work. It would solve all your issues, AND expand your capabilities.

I have a 100 or so .txt files of Vcarve projects that work on a mach 3 processor. There is conversion software but it was very expensive and there is no guarantee it would not be buggy. I think chatgpt might work but I haven’t tried it yet. There are members of this community who are experts in gcode who would know better than me

If it’s a .txt file…it’s already been posted. I’m wondering if there is a terminology barrier here? Maybe?

One other handy solution is to uh, well just use Carveco and eliminate ALL of this.

Here’s a fun story that is totally unrelated…

When I was a kid, there was a neighborhood dog that hobbled itself because it just wouldn’t stop chewing on it’s own feet.

I’m using Carveco Maler, and it;s a pain in the neck to create rotary relief files, and it’s $180/year. Maker+ is supposed to be able to create reliefs, but it’s $600/year, or $1200 perpetual! DesignProto is awesome, easy to use, and only $267 perpetual.

I can make a rotary relief in Carveco Maker in under 90 seconds. And it’s not because I’m awesome. Was it a pain the first time? Yes. But I learned how to do it, and now it’s easy. No different than anything else in life.

If the issue is cost, then let it be about cost. There is a reason one is $1200 and one is $267. If this difference doesn’t apply to the type of work you do, and DP is what you want, then you already have your answer. It doesn’t have anything to do with Carveco.

Sorry, not meaning to brow beat…I just feel compelled to point out flawed logic. Especially these days.

I have a 3D piece that I need to duplicate. It took me forever to get the shape into Maker. Then, I had to go through a bunch of crap to get it into a file I could cut on my rotary. I’ve been using Maker for almost a year, and I can use it quite well. When I got my rotary, I thought Malker was set up to create fields for it. That’s when I discovered you need Maker+, which is very expensive. KI discovered DeskProto and downloaded it.

I have a part that I printed with my 3D printer. I took that part and scanned it to create an STL. I decided to try DeskProto and opened it. I had never used it before, and clicked the wizard. With a few clicks, I loaded the STL, and within a minute, the part was on screen. You just input a few values and hit calculate, and you have an NC file ready to cut.

I don’t know why I have to justify it to you, but I love Deskroto.

And I don’t why you feel the need to justify anything at all…to anyone. If you prefer DP, then use DP. Problem solved. Wasn’t that easy?

Sometimes all you gotta do is stop chewing on your feet to realize that you could be chasing squirrels instead.

I tried the Notepad ++ as suggested. It works!! Yes… Thanks
One question, I converted a file and ran an air cut. The Masso screen showed the correct file but I noticed a distinctive growl to the steppers while cutting. Is this normal?
Not something I encountered when originally using the file on Mach 3.
