DiY vacuum table

So has anyone made a DIY vacuum table and if so how did you go about it. I have a working plan in my head but not sure if it’s plausible. It’s included a base piece of 3/4 mdf with a grin pattern of 1 inch squares 1/2 inch deep with a pocket in the center with a flanged fitting for a 2.5 inch vacuum hose. Another piece of mdf with the same grid pattern with holes to get the vacuum to the top mdf. Sounds good in theory. But not sure.
