Do I need the stiffy woodworker x50

Do I need the stiffy woodworker x50… Is it wort it if I am using the stock Mikita router…

Thank you

It would depend on what you’re milling and the accuracy you need, if working with wood an +/-.005" is acceptable then you probably don’t need it, if you want to work with aluminum or tighter tolerances then I’d invest in the stiffy. I mill wood parts that need to fit together all day long on the X50 Journeyman without the stiffy and it will hold those tolerances easily. That being said I am considering adding it to my machine because most of the deflection is in the X axis gantry.

That is great to know, I will start saving for it…thank you

Hey David,

more than one user wondered when there came a “stiffy” third rail for the 50 mm X axis, because X-50 rails were introduced with “Rigidity is not an issue with 50mm Linear hollow shafts standard on the X Axis (Stiffy is unnecessary)”, but with Elite Series a “stiffy” 3rd rail was introduced for the 50 mm X axis. Here’s the manufacturer’s statement on this question.
